August Newsletter

"August" written in sand on a beach with seashells and starfish nearby; waves and blue sea in the background.

Director's Corner,

WELCOME AUGUST!

I don’t know about you, but I am hoping for a little cooler weather.  July proved to be super warm.  I like warm weather for beach going and outside activities, but WOW, it was a lot to take in.

July was so busy at the library for many of our patrons.  There was a lot of reading going on in the Potterville Community and our Tuesday events had some record attendance.  Don’t forget about our “FOAM PARTY” on Tuesday, August 5th.  It is our last event for the summer and it’s going to be fantastic.  You are going to get wet, so bring plenty of towels with you.  See you on Tuesday.  It’s hard to believe but the Summer Reading Program “Color Our World” comes to an end on August 9th.  Please get your reading records in to us soon.  There is still prizes to be won and I want you to get your name in our box for even BIGGER prizes.  See you next week!

If you have not heard, Paige, is going to be saying goodbye to the library next week.  She is starting her next adventure very soon.  I wish her the best on her next chapter.  Thank you Paige for being here for the Potterville community.  You have touched a number of children with your Story Time programs and everyone else with your beautiful smile.   I am really going to miss you.  If you get a chance, stop in and wish her well this week.

August is going to prove to be a busy month.  Your library is starting to gear up for the Viking Lego Club and our Story Time programs starting on Tuesdays in September.  Please check the calendar for details.  Also, I am happy to introduce “kanopy” to you!  As patrons, you are given a seat to 31,000 films, TV series, and kids content.  No ads.  No fees.  It works a lot like Libby since it is part of our OverDrive service.  As patrons, you will receive 25 tickets per month to access films, documentaries and lots of kids content.  You will need to download the kanopy app and make sure to have your library number handy.  Once you have that entered into your account, you will start exploring and enjoying movies.  Questions?  Call and we will be able to help you.

The Friends of the Library will be hosting their Annual Craft Show at the Country Mill in late September.  If you would like to be a vendor for this event, please contact the library soon to get details.  I want to take a moment to thank the Friends for all of their support this past year.  They are a fantastic group dedicated in helping me make your library a great place to come.  They support all of our programs and give monies for special collections.

Have a fantastic August. Enjoy the “Start of the School Year”.
