Director's Corner,

 

June is HERE!  Warmer weather, beach time, graduation parties, cookouts, opening of the pool, and lots of garden and flower time.  I hope whatever you do have a great time with family and friends.

 

“Color Our World” is now open.  It is time to sign up for our Summer Reading Program which starts Monday, June 23rd.  We have a fantastic lineup coming your way starting with “Potter Park Wild Tails”.   July looks to be  fun packed as well.  It appears that Bluey is coming, along with a magician and with some bubble fun.  We end  our summer reading program with the famous “Foam Party”.  I heard that something new may be coming as well.  Don’t wait!  Sign up today!

 

The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual “Well Read Shed Book Sale” on Friday, June 6th  and Saturday, June 7th from 12:00 to 5:00 each day.  Please stop by.  There is a great selection of books for you to choose from.  I want to thank you for your generous donations to the Friends of the Library.  They really appreciate it.  Also, please think about becoming a Friend.  They are a great group of individuals that share the love of  PBTDL  Come and visit with them this weekend.  They would be happy to share their vision of promoting and expanding library services in the community.

Job Opening at the Library!

Have you ever dreamed to work at a library? Well your dream may come true since we have an opening! We are looking for a new Customer Service/ Marketing Position.

This individual will develop, implement, and supervise a Young Adult Book Club, help with the planning/ implementing of toddler time and work closely with the teen services. They, also, will be working with the Director on a number of special projects. Some other responsibilities are performing MeL duties, assisting patrons with selections, and take the lead in marketing and implementing all programs and events along with contacting businesses and organizations.

Qualifications: In need of a high energy person who has the following skills:

  • High school graduate
  • Computer Literate
  • Microsoft Office Knowledge
  • Google Documents
  • Experience in a Library setting is helpful

Since we post a different cat for every month, we thought why not let you show us your cats! So we introduce Cat of the month.  Each month we will pick a cat to put in our enewsletter. You can send them to us through messenger or comment on our Facebook post with their name.

Ever wanted to learn a how to crochet but never knew how or where to start? Well look no further!   We are introducing a Crochet Club! Learn how to do the basics of crocheting. For all beginners and even the people who are skilled! Come in each Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 to check it out.

Our Summer Reading Program is about to kick off! It starts June 23rd and will go  until August 9th.  We have many events planned for you  and prizes for you to win! We have Potter Park Zoo coming back, some Bubbly fun, and a visit from Gordon the Magician!

 Start signing up on Monday, June 2nd  so you don't miss out!

Events:

The  2025 Summer Reading Program  for Children, Teens and Adults begins June 24th thru August 9th  10:30am and will be located at the Imagination Station Pavilion.

We have FREE Covid-19 Tests!

If you are feeling under the weather,  we are giving away Covid tests. Two tests per box. If you have a family of four,  you can get four boxes.  Stay safe out there!

It is about that time of year where kids have to take the  ACT and SAT. Don't worry, though, because we have Tutor.com! Tutor.com has review tests so your kids can get prepared for the SAT.  Look it up to prepare for that big test!

The Happy Bookers: BookAholics Book Club

The Book Club is back in session and they are reading  "I Have Some Questions For You" By Rebecca Makkai. If you are interested, please plan on attending the meeting on June 11th at 3:00 PM right at the library or call us at 645-2989 for more details.  We hope to see you there!

The Well Read Shed

Tap on the Libby logo in the center 

Select Menu
Select Add Library

Search for one of the Partner Libraries (listed below)
Select Sign In With My Card
Under Partner Libraries select Your Local Public Library
Enter your Card Number and PIN
Select Next
Repeat process until all Partner Libraries have been added


Partner libraries are: Lakeland Digital Library, Suburban Library Cooperative, Download Destination, Great Lakes Digital Libraries, Midwest Collaborative for Library Services, Up North Michigan Consortium, Woodlands Downloadable Library, White Pine Library Cooperative, and Metro Net Library Consortium.
